Lanzarote Holidays 2026/2027

Ada Vidodo

Let us be honest, there is a reason people keep going back to Lanzarote year after year. It is not just sunshine, although 300 plus days of it help. It is the moment you lad, step outside and think, yes, this is exactly what I needed.

Whether you are after cheap Lanzarote holidays on a tight budget, a proper all inclusive Lanzarote resort with a swim-up mini bar or a family holiday in Lanzarote where the kids run free, here is what you actually need to know before you book.

Why Lanzarote in 2026?

Lanzarote is one of the most dramatic of the Canary Islands, shaped by six years of non stop volcanic eruptions in the 1700s and now a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve. But here is what nobody tells first-timers: It is also just very easy to holiday in. Lanzarote weather is warm all year round, flights to Lanzarote from the UK take under four hours and you can be on a beautiful beach within 20 minutes of your hotel. Simple, reliable and brilliant.

When to go?

Lanzarote's weather is genuinely good for most of the year, but it is not perfect in every season. March can be beautiful, but it can also be windy and rainy for stretches at a time. If you want the safest bet for sunshine, aim for May to September. October to November can also be lovaly. Just do not book in February or March expecting guaranteed beach weather, you might get lucky or you might not.

All Inclusive or Self Catering?

All Inclusive Lanzarote holidays exist for a reason, you pay once and spend the rest of the trip not thinking about money. Great for families, great for couples who want to switch off completely. The best all inclusive Lanzarote resorts are mostly in Puerto del Carmen and Playa Blanca

Self-catering suits people who want to actually see the island rather than just the poolside. Hire a car, explore the volcanic landscapes and eat where the locals eat. For groups or longer stays, self-catering Lanzarote packages often work out much cheaper.

Which Resort is Right for you?

  • Puerto del Carmen is the most popular for Lanzarote holidays. Long beaches, great restaurant and a nightlife strip to earn its reputation. Wide choice of Lanzarote hotels for every budget.

  • Playa Blanca is quieter and genuinely relaxing. Perfect for family holidays in Lanzarote or couples wanting a slower pace. The marina at sunset is something else.

  • Costa Teguise is slightly under the radar, which means better value Lanzarote holiday deals. Great for water sports.

Things to do in Lanzarote worth your time

  • Timafaya National Park: You board the bus that drives through a volcanic landscape that looks genuinely like another planet. The geothermal demos are wild: water poured into the ground turns to steam in seconds, because the surface temperature sits at 600°C just 13 meters down. One of the best things to do in Lanzarote by a long way. Little advice: pre-book tickets, especially in the summer.

  • Papagayo beaches. The most beautiful beaches in Lanzarote, tucked near Playa Blanca. Turquoise water, almost no development, just the kind of view that makes your camera feel inadequate.

  • Jameos del Agua, a cave system with an underground saltwater lagoon, blind albino crabs and a concert hall built inside a lava tube. Only in Lanzarote.

  • Hire a car, the best thing you can do on a Lanzarote Holiday. The island takes about an hour to cross and the landscape off the main roads is spectacular.

You will see the word verbena on a fiesta poster and wonder what it means. It is not a concert, not a club and not quite a village party either. It is all three and none of them at the same time: a late-night local celebration with live music, dancing, food, neighbours, families, visitors and the kind of atmosphere you only really understand once you are standing in the square.
