The easy guide :)
Let us be honest, Lanzarote is amazing, but sometimes you want a plot twist. Luckily, from Lanzarote you can drive onto a ferry with your car and reach other islands without changing your whole life.
1. Lanzarote to Fuerteventura (with your car)
The route: Playa Blanca to Corralejo
This is the classic and easiest car ferry hop. You drive to Playa Blanca port, roll your car onto the ferry and in about 25 minutes you are in Corralejo, Fuerteventura. Fred, Olsen explicitly describes it as a fast ferry link and highlights the 25 minute crossing and frequent deoarture.
Who runs it (main operators):
- Fred Olsen Express is fast and frequent
- Naviera Armas or Armas Trasmediterránea, also runs this route
- Aggregators show multiple daily departures by these operators
Why is it worth it:
Fuerteventura feels like Lanzarote´s wide-open cousin. Think huge dunes, long beaches and wow this is different landscapes.
Easy drive plan once arrived:
Corralejo town, dunes area, beach time and then return
2- Lanzarote to La Graciosa (no private cars, but an epic da trip)
The route: Órzola to Caleta de Sebo
This ferry is daily and runs all year. You cannot take a normal rental car because La Graciosa is a protected area with very limited vehicles, but it is still one of the best ferry adventures from Lanzarote.
La Graciosa is the no stress island: snady streets, unreal beaches and a totally different place.
How you do it with a car- You drive to Órzola, park your car, ferry over to La Graciosa and then rent a bike, e-bike or walk.
3- Lanzarote to Isla de Lobos (possible as a double ferry day)
Lobos is a small protectes island off Fuerteventura and is reached by a boat from Corralejo. You can not take your car to Lobos but you can do it as: Lanzarote to Corralejo (car ferry), then take boat to Lobos and then come back.
Lobos boat operators confirm departures from Corralejo and frequent daily trips.
Why is it worth it:
Short hikes, turquoise water and that tiny island feeling.
4- Lanzarote to Mainland Spain (yes, with your car)
If you are doing a longer road trip, Lanzarote has ferries to Cádiz, mainland Spain. Armas Trasmediterránea lists the Arrecife to Cádiz route and notes capacity for passangers and vehicles.
Who is this trip best for:
People doing a serious overland trip, spain road trip and Canary Islands in one itinerary.
Which one should you choose, cheat sheet:
- If you want the easiest car ferry day trip then Fuerteventura (Playa Blanca to Corralejo)
- Want the most different vibe one then La Graciosa (Órzola tp Caleta de Sebo)
- The tiny island and turquoise water flex, then choose Lobos (via Corralejo)
- If you are doing a big travel story then do the Arrecife to Cádiz trip.
