Discover how art transforms everyday life in this new exhibition by Cristóbal Tabares, one of the most prominent contemporary artists from the Canary Islands. Drawing inspiration from Óscar Wilde’s famous assertion, the show revisits and re‑interprets iconic works of Canarian painting — from artists like Jorge Oramas, Óscar Domínguez, Néstor de la Torre and Pino Ojeda — in a fresh, witty, colourful and sensitive way. The eight large‑format paintings featured update symbols and landscapes of the archipelago, inviting visitors to rediscover the everyday and rethink heritage through a contemporary lens.
The exhibition takes place at the Museo Internacional de Arte Contemporáneo (MIAC) in Arrecife, organised by the Department of Visual Arts of the Gobierno de Canarias together with the museum. The show runs from 26 November 2025 to 29 March 2026. On the opening day, Wednesday, 26 November 2025 at 19:00 the entry is free and unrestricted; at other times you will need to purchase the general museum ticket (please check the usual museum hours).
