Join artist Bettina Cieslinski on Wednesday, 5 November 2025, for a hands-on workshop exploring the vivid carmine red dye extracted from the cochineal insect, native to Lanzarote. The event takes place from 16:30 to 18:00 at La Casa de Terapia de Arriba, located on Calle Salinas 12 in Puerto del Carmen.

The workshop begins with a short introduction to the cochineal insect, known for producing a high-quality natural dye used in fabrics, food, beverages, and cosmetics. You'll learn about its cultural and ecological importance on the island and how its deep red pigment is traditionally harvested and processed.

Participants will then mix the carmine dye with water or other materials to create vibrant tones and experiment freely using watercolor techniques. This is a welcoming and playful environment where both adults and children can create unique, expressive works of art inspired by Lanzarote’s natural palette.

It’s an ideal activity for families, creative minds, and anyone curious about natural color-making.
