Puerto del Carmen Carnival 2026 — Traditional Carnival Parade

Puerto del Carmen Carnival 2026 — Traditional Carnival Parade

public
This is the most “authentic” carnival day of the whole weekend — less about big floats and more about Lanzarote’s living carnival traditions. From late afternoon, the streets fill with historic groups and classic characters: Los Buches (iconic Arrecife carnival tradition), Los Diabletes de Teguise (one of the oldest and most famous traditional carnival figures), Las Libreras de El Palmar (Tenerife), Las Sábanas del Carnaval, Toritos de Tiagua, plus giants and big-head figures (gigantes y cabezudos).

It’s a moving street parade: you can join for a short stretch or follow the full route. The walk starts by Playa Chica (easy to access from the old harbour area) and finishes at Plaza del Varadero, where the night programme continues: first a DJ set to keep the energy up, then a headline concert by Dominican artist Kinito Méndez, and finally a verbena (open-air dance party) with a DJ + live orchestras — the classic Canarian way to end a carnival night.
