This is the biggest parade of the Arrecife carnival week — the “main event” where the city turns into one long moving party. Expect floats (carrozas), comparsa dance groups, batucadas (drum crews), murgas-style carnival energy, and thousands of people in costumes (locals call them mascaritas) following along, dancing and cheering.
It’s the most tourist-friendly carnival moment in Arrecife because you can simply pick a spot along the route, watch the floats pass, take photos, then walk into the centre afterwards for food, drinks, and the evening atmosphere. If you’re travelling with kids, it’s also one of the easiest days to “see carnival” without needing to understand the whole programme — the parade itself tells the story.
