“Jarana” in the Canaries means a shared celebration—that moment when music pulls people together, your body relaxes into the rhythm, and the joy feels collective. De Jarana takes that idea and turns it into a stage show that mixes tradition with a contemporary performance language: live music, strong rhythm, and movement that feels festive but also emotional.
The official listing describes it as not a literal “folk calendar reenactment”, but a journey through what celebrations awaken: the pleasure of dancing, the streets dressed with little flags, the power of ritual—plus that soft melancholy that appears when you remember people who are no longer there.
It’s staged in the Auditorio inside Jameos del Agua, so the experience is also about the venue: volcanic architecture, acoustics, and the unique atmosphere of one of Lanzarote’s most iconic CACT spaces.
