Los Buches Street Parade: Traditional Arrecife Carnival

Los Buches Street Parade: Traditional Arrecife Carnival

public
This is the most iconic “old Lanzarote” carnival moment in Arrecife — a living tradition where the masked bucheros walk through town carrying inflated fish bladders (buches) and playfully “tap” the crowd as they go. It’s loud, funny, and unbelievably local — with giants (gigantes), the Parranda playing carnival music, and that chaotic energy where you don’t just watch… you get pulled into it.

The best part: it ends in a masked street dance (baile de máscaras) in the main square — and if you come in costume, you can get free carnival torrijas (limited portions).
